DeleteSome source indicates the origin of Mark Richards as being from the USA, but all this is very questionable because these recordings were under different names: Tubby Chess & His Candy Stripe Twisters and
Ray Gunn & His Blasters. I think it's a group of studio musicians.

ReplyDeleteMark Richards (and Billy Wade, Chet Avery, Ray Garnet - or Ray Garnett - between others, was a part of a group of ''ghost'' singers that just sang covers of hits of other artists. Their recordings were released in many countries (Europe, South America, etc), not ever under their true names, but under creative pseudonymous, some times. They are american singers. There is an album of "Twist" with 12 tracks with all these singers in YouTube under various artistic names.

ReplyDeleteAKA Tubby Chess and His Candy Stripe Twisters on Grand Prix records. There is also a cut on Swingin' Shindig starring Johnny Rivers credited to Charlie Francis (?). On the whole, Mark Richards and the Silver Keys made a pretty good record. Some of the songs are top notch - My Baby Couldn't Dance, I Just Couldn't Take It, Take A Chance, Loving You.
