ReplyDeleteSome of you are disturbed by changes right now on the blog. I owe you explanations: of course, to those for whom this blog is intended and who appreciate it. For several years, the blog has been regularly bombarded by robots. These robots load data for a certain time, often several days in a row, days and nights. These robots are mainly looking for photos or magazines. This didn’t really bother me for some time. Now we are dealing with a new generation of robots guided, of course, by artificial intelligence. The power of these robots is much higher than that of the old ones. I frequently see more than 50,000 connections from these robots in 24 hours. These robots come to get material from independent blogs to distribute it on sites that have a huge storage and distribution capacity. There’s nothing we can do about it. There’s no way to stop them from coming. Nor of the regions in the form of diffusion as it was up to a few days. Now, it’s no longer occasional, as you can see on the visit counter. It’s becoming increasingly annoying. I’m not opposed to sharing, otherwise I wouldn’t have created this blog. That’s usually the logic of bloggers. It should be noted that some (bloggers), by the way, still have not made the decision to share their address using a link with other similar blogs. Search for yourself. But let’s return to our topic today. Under current conditions, these robots become unacceptable to me. So, I decided to publish the press clippings, photos and magazines in lowercase to make them unreadable on the blog page. The downloadable documents for you are obviously in the correct reading format. For any offer to upload, I have decided to provide a password. This represents an additional burden for me. I didn’t want to cause you any trouble with that. I know that in general, you don’t appreciate these methods, and neither do I. I even got called a "whore." Thank you to that one, who will recognize himself... I’m sure of it. All this is my weapon to discourage these robots and find normal connections on the blog. I hope this will be sufficiently dissuasive for them. I have also decided to make block posts. Until now, I had published each volume of the boxed set one by one, thinking that it was a way to retain readers of the blog. It was a positive experience, no doubt for me. Nevertheless, everything has an end. Time is running out, I have published 23,477 documents so far since 2011. Nothing lasts forever, except for the British psychedelic... ah! Ah! Ah! And of course, I’m not either. So, everything might stop at any moment, given my age. It can also happen at any time of my own will. I will do my best to hold out as late as possible. I also thought of ending by making myself happy, and I hope you will share this pleasure. From now on, we will live in an extraordinary world, moving away from today’s one. We love this era for its nostalgia, but above all for its music. So let’s make room for the imagination, such as this world of music was, by trying with weak means to reinvent it in order to escape into it with our own weak means.

That "whole lifetime" is mine, too. I was twelve when my older brother gave me albums by the Animals and the Beach Boys for Christmas. In middle school, a classmate told me about the Rolling Stones; a month later, I owned every record of theirs that was available. I’ve spent my entire life constantly discovering new things. I couldn't just keep it all to myself selfishly. Thanks, Robert—keep enjoying it; I’ve still got some great stuff in my cupboards.

ReplyDeleteI haven't been around as much these past few months, but I regularly check out the albums you share. Honestly, they contain everything that has inspired me since my teenage years. It's probably the last remaining link we have to what we've experienced. I'm getting older too, and I think we're about the same age. Artificial intelligence is plundering everything it finds, to the detriment of sharing. We're light years away from the original purpose of the internet (which was to share knowledge). I used to own two rather technical websites, and after 20 years, I closed them down last year. I completely support you on the measures you could take to save this blog. Once again, a huge thank you for continuing to share your passion.
Rest easy, old man; I don't hand out attendance points. I have to say, though, that a message like yours is often reassuring. Over the last 16 years, I’ve known others like you who were devoted to this blog—only for there to be radio silence from one day to the next. As you say, most of us here are getting on in years. So, I find myself asking the kind of questions one asks at my age: "What became of him?" I look around me, too, and feel the walls closing in. Then, as if by a miracle, one of those people reappears, and it gives me a boost. You are always welcome here, whenever you wish to drop by.

I am grateful to you for that. We are the same age and we understand each other; we share the same mindset and the same aches and pains of old age. There is just one difference between us: in your head, you are 25, while I am 15. In a way, you are like an older brother to me.

Greg T, when I say "anonymous," I don't necessarily mean you have to be on some sort of list. Let's leave the list-making to others; everyone is free to do as they please. Racati, je tiens à te remercier, tu es également l'un des trois plus fidèles de la messagerie et le plus assidu des Français. Je sais que tu attaches une importance à correspondre dans ta langue française. C'est pourquoi tout le monde comprendra que le respect que je te dois est au minimum de te parler avec ta langue. J'apprécie tes commentaires avec lesquels tu donnes franchement ton avis. Cela ne me gêne pas. Pour ce blog, j'ai décidé dès sa création de ne pas être juge et parti. Je publie tout ce qui est en rapport avec les styles musicaux que nous aimons tous (que je trouve ça bon ou pas). C'est à chacun de juger. Ce que tu fais très bien toi-même. Petite confidence : je ne suis pas toujours d'accord avec toi. Mais c'est la règle du jeu.

I know how important it is for you to correspond in French. That is why everyone will understand that the respect I owe you means, at the very least, speaking to you in your own language. I appreciate the comments where you frankly share your opinion; I don't mind that at all. When I started this blog, I decided not to act as both judge and jury. I publish everything related to the musical styles we all love (whether I personally think the music is good or not). It is up to each person to judge for themselves—something you do very well. Just between us: I don't always agree with you. But that’s part of the game.

Phil, I have commented before, but think that this is a good time to start. The material you have shared and continue to share has been both educational and a great pleasure to experience. ReplyDeleteWell, I found your blog a few years ago and I am still deeply impressed by the effort you make by posting fantastic compilations of music from my younghood. I always suspected that your blog collects visitors with similar age, with the same interest - and yes, with similar difficulties regarding age, health condition, etc. When these records were born I was not in the position to have access to most of them so for me it is especially interesting to see what I have missed. It is better late than never... Please, forgive me insisting on the Anonymus status. I always sign my comments saying thanks for your efforts: Géza (this is a real Hungarian name). By the way: Anonymus was a living person in the history of my country, he has a sculpture in Budapest - his face is covered...

It's harder to keep track of interesting things, harder to protect a site from these annoying intrusions, and also to cope with the attitude of many people who don't appreciate the time and effort it takes to maintain a good blog. It's no wonder many of the good ones are dying, or have gone. I admire your persistence and dedication. and you have my grateful thanks for the music you share too. I've developed an appreciation of stuff I never knew existed thanks to your work. So do you what you must to preserve your sanity, and know that most of use appreciate your great efforts. :👍
